Eligibility Criteria of RRB Ministerial & Isolated Recruitment

Age Limit & Educational Qualification: Post-wise Age Limit & Educational Qualification are as follows: (For details, please check the official notification.)

  1. Post Graduate Teachers (PGT)
    • Educational Qualification: Master’s Degree with at least 50% marks in relevant subjects, B.Ed. or equivalent, proficiency in Hindi and English, desirable: knowledge of computer applications
    • Age Limit: 18 to 48 years
  2. Scientific Supervisor (Ergonomics and Training)
    • Educational Qualification: Second Class Master’s Degree in Psychology or Physiology, two years experience in psychological tests or work psychology, or training module development. Desirable: Specialization in Industrial Psychology, Ergonomics, and knowledge of Statistics and Computers
    • Age Limit: 18 to 38 years
  3. Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT)
    • Educational Qualification: Degree in Drawing/Painting/Fine Arts, competency in teaching in English, desirable: 2 years training or teaching experience
    • Age Limit: 18 to 48 years
  4. Chief Law Assistant
    • Educational Qualification: University Degree in Law with 3 years of practice at the Bar. Railway employees who are law graduates can also apply.
    • Age Limit: 18 to 43 years
  5. Public Prosecutor
    • Educational Qualification: Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and 5 years of standing as an advocate at the Bar
    • Age Limit: 18 to 35 years
  6. Physical Training Instructor (English Medium)
    • Educational Qualification: Bachelor in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or its equivalent
    • Age Limit: 18 to 48 years
  7. Scientific Assistant/Training
    • Educational Qualification: Second Class Master’s Degree in Psychology, one year experience in administering psychological tests, and knowledge of computers/statistics is desirable.
    • Age Limit: 18 to 38 years
  8. Junior Translator (Hindi)
    • Educational Qualification: Master’s Degree in Hindi or English with relevant subjects, or Master’s Degree with Hindi/English medium and translation experience
    • Age Limit: 18 to 36 years

    • Educational Qualification: Degree from a recognized university, Diploma in Public Relations/Advertising/Journalism/Mass Communication

    • Educational Qualification: 12th with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B.El.Ed. or other equivalent qualifications

  14. Assistant Teacher (Female) (Junior School)
    • Educational Qualification: 12th with at least 50% marks and 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education or equivalent
    • Age Limit: 18 to 48 years
  15. Laboratory Assistant (School)
    • Educational Qualification: 12th with Science and 1-year experience in laboratory work
    • Age Limit: 18 to 48 years
  16. Lab Assistant Grade 3 (Chemist and Metallurgist)

Selection Process of RRB Recruitment

The recruitment process for RRB Ministerial & Isolated Categories posts shall involve Single Stage CBT, Performance Test/Teaching Skill Test, Translation Test (as applicable), and DV/Medical Examination

Computer-Based Test


Name of exam: Computer-Based Test (CBT)

  • Date of exam: To be updated later
  • Mode of exam: Online (CBT)
  • Duration of exam: 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwBD candidates who are availing the Scribe facility)
  • Total number of questions: 100
  • Type of questions: Multiple Choice Question
  • Standard of questions: The standard of questions for the Single Stage CBT will be generally in conformity with the educational standards prescribed for the posts
  • Negative marking: There shall be negative marking @1/3rd marks for each wrong answer.
  • Pass marks: minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various communities: UR-40%, EWS-40%, OBC (non-creamy layer)-30%, SC-30%, and ST-25%. These percentages of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2 marks for PwBD candidates in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.
  • Normalization: The normalized marks scored by the candidate in the CBT shall be used for shortlisting the candidates for the performance test/teaching skill test, translation test, and DV (as applicable) for the posts.
